Privacy Policy
The Chord Trainer is an iOS app developed by Patrick Hall. This policy explains how the app handles information. It applies to the current beta release distributed through Apple TestFlight.
The short version
The Chord Trainer does not collect, transmit, or store your personal information. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. The app has no server of its own and does not send your information anywhere.
The optional name
The app may offer a setting where you can enter a first name or nickname so it can address the learner by name during practice.
- Anything you type is stored only on your device. It is never uploaded or transmitted.
- Spoken audio is not generated from what you type. All audio the app plays is included with the app itself, and playback happens entirely on your device.
- If there is no matching audio for the name entered, the app simply plays no name. Nothing is sent anywhere to look it up.
- The setting is optional. The app works fully without it, and you can clear it at any time.
Information the app does not access
The app does not access or collect your contacts, location, photos, microphone, health data, browsing activity, or advertising identifiers. It does not use third-party analytics or advertising software.
Beta testing through TestFlight
While the app is in beta, Apple's TestFlight service provides the developer with crash reports and any feedback a tester chooses to send, which may include a screenshot and the tester's email address. That information is collected and handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy, not by this app. Feedback is used only to fix problems and improve the app, and is never sold or shared.
Data sharing and sale
No information is sold, rented, or shared with third parties. There is no information to share: the app does not transmit data.
Deletion
The optional name is removed when you clear it in Settings or delete the app. Because nothing is transmitted, there is no server-side copy of your information to request deletion of.
Children
The Chord Trainer is a general-audience music education app. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, and it transmits no user-entered information.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised.
